Pan Shots

Image
Pan shots are very hard but very beautiful. This post is about how to make decently looking pan shots! The first thing to make sure that you do is choose the proper shutter speed. That is determined by how fast your subject is moving. Another good tip is to use flash and set the speed light for rear curtain style. Doing this makes the flash happen at the end of the exposure making a nice lighted pan shot. Pre-Focusing is also one way of making the subject easier to see by having the camera already focused on where your subject will be. A big question is should you do the pan shot hand held or using a tripod? This is up to you. If you know what way and where the subject is going to move then you should most likely use a tripod. But if there is no set way the subject is suppose to move then using handheld can make it easier for the subject to be followed with a pan shot. The most important tip of all is practice! Practicing doing pan shots will only make you more comfortable an

Upside Down

This was my final project for the semester for my e-Communications class. My partner and I had to create a short film revolving around one of the given themes we had to choose from; we chose "everything changes." To start this project out we decided to brainstorm a ton of ideas that went along with the theme that we had chosen. Once we landed on our desired story we wrote out a short script of the film. Then we wrote out the voice over that we could plan our camera shots too. After this we made storyboards of our desired shots that helped tell the story in the best way possible. Then we filmed the shots and edited to tell the story we intended to tell. Throughout this film I learned to have more patience when not working with the best actor(s) in having to keep retaking shots to get what I personally thought looked good. Another thing I learned it how you have to prefocus the lens to a desired distance when having it be inside a door and the character opening it up for th

The Jungle Book Review

Image
The Jungle Book was one of my childhood favorite movies. The 2016 version of The Jungle Book was even more amazing then the older animated version. The overall story of this piece was the boy Mowgli who was raised in the jungle by the animals has to escape from the tiger, Shere Kan, who also was the animal that killed Mowgli's father. Throughout the story Mowgli finds himself discovering more and more who he is and the role he plays in the jungle to protect his friends. In the end Mowgli posses what no animal could possess the red flower, fire, and uses it to defeat Shere Kan and bring peace to the jungle. This movie is amazing. All of the shots are perfectly placed and all of the lighting looks very natural and pretty. The animations of the animals are just as amazing as the voice acting for them and the acting for Mowgli. The Jungle Book is overall an amazing film that I personally recommend for anyone to watch. Something that I hope to use from this film in my projects is

Hat Trick Review

Image
This video was one that I made last year so I decided to review it. The video has a good story and plot that makes sense and does not have really any holes in the story. It is also very funny and has good music that goes along well with the story at the time. The lighting for most of it is not that bad either even though it was back when I did not really understand how to set up lighting that well. There is, however, somethings that I would change in the short film. The last sequence of shots goes to the beat but it jumps super fast in time so I would get more shots to make that part last longer. Another thing I would fix is some of the dialogue I would make it a little bit louder and easier to hear. Overall, this video is hysterical and reminds me of all the funny things that my friend and I did while making this video. The video Hat Trick is a good one to keep around for laughs and to show my growth in video making because this quality was a lot better and I have became even bett
