A Thousand Words

This short film was made by my entire e-Communications class my junior year. Every year towards the end of the year in the entertainment strand of e-Comm the class makes a short film. So to start off this project the class collaborated and helped read and critique scripts that could be used for the short film. The process was pretty long creating this short film. We filmed a few days and I had the role of being a key grip on set. So my process for helping to make this film was me preplanning all the equipment needed, loading, and unloading the equipment. Setting up the equipment was the hardest because some of it I had not used before but it was a fun learning experience.

What I learned from this project was that working as a team is very important for times sake on a film set. Another thing I learned was that overpacking equipment can come in handy in case something breaks or does not work properly.

I would do a lot of the things the same in this short film. As a key grip I fulfilled all the duties that I needed to in order to make the film get done in time. What I would do different though is study some of the equipment more before film days so I could set it up a tad bit quicker. Other than that I would keep everything else the same.

Overall, this was a very fun and eye opening project. All the skills and experience I learned from creating this short film will be used in future larger scale projects.
